Sweet Bread Wreath

Ingredients

1/4 cup water
3/4 cup sour cream
1 egg
3 cups bread flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons bread machine or quick active dry yeast
1 egg, beaten
3 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground anise or grond cloves
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated or ground nutmeg

Directions:

Measure carefully, placing all ingredients except beaten egg, 3 tablespoons, sugar, the cinnamon, anise and nutmeg in bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer.

Select Dough/Manual cycle. Do not use delay cycles.

Remove dough from pan using lightly floured hands. Cover and let rest 10 minuets on lightly floured surface.

Grease large cookie sheet. Divide dough into thirds. Roll each third into 26-inch rope. Place ropes side by side braid together gently and loosely. Pinch ends to fasten. Shape braid into circle on cookie sheet pinch ends together. Cover and let rise in warm place 45 to 50 minuets or until double. (Dough is ready if indentation remains when touched.)

Heat oven to 350°. Brush beaten egg over dough. Mix 3 tablespoons sugar, the cinnamon, anise and nutmeg sprinkle over dough. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.

1 serving: 80 calories (20 calories from fat) 2 fat (1g saturated) 20mg cholesterol 105mg sodium 14g carbohydrate (0g dietary fiber) 2g protein.

SUCCESS TIP
Braid the ropes together loosely to keep the dough from stretching and so the wreath will have a nice, round shape. Be sure to pinch the ends together tightly when forming the circle so they won't separate during rising or baking.

Shaping
Braid ropes gently and loosely, starting at the middle. Shape braid into a circle on cookie sheet pinch ends together.
