Betty Crocker has been a cherished and important part of our household for over forty years. My mother almost single-handedly raised six of us on God, love, discipline, creativity, and Betty Crocker products. Her love for cooking and baking manifested itself into scrumptious feasts. When she could afford to do so, she would always make "a little extra" to be donated to a neighboring soup kitchen. Even as children, we realized that financially our household income was quite limited, but Mom's imagination knew no bounds. Frequently, our house was filled with singing, laughter, and the incredible, tempting aroma of food that seemed to drift from every corner. Mom cooked up mouthwatering pies, cakes, breads, doughnuts, fudge, and casseroles that made us feel special even in hard times. Down through the years mother always used Betty Crocker products. She would explain to us that quality made all the difference, and it never would be worth our time and money to skimp. Today my mother is actively involved in feeding hungry families in our community. When she finds a family having trouble making ends meet, she tries to help them plan a sensible and feasible budget. She delivers loaves of bread, advice, and Betty Crocker recipes and products to make their lives easier. I appreciate what my mother has taught me about Betty Crocker. She believes the Betty Crocker spirit is about people who have grown up with something tangible they can believe in and trust. I believe this spirit definitely lives in my mother and has found a home there. I see it in the dishes of lovingly prepared food she shares with her loved ones. I see it in the quiet strength and character that flow from her at the end of each day. ---We were saddened to hear of the passing of Evelyn Lawson and we offer our condolences to her family and friends.
