Wait… Are These Just Android Updates?
Last week, one of our readers, “Pickaname,” left this comment:Why is it always Android improvements? My money is just a s green and I only have iOS products to use. You announced many many monnths ago that Android couln now capture PDF and you were working on iOS and I have not heard anything about this to date. Now another new feature for Android users only as stated above " They added some cool new features to Cook'n just last week. And, this week, they released ANOTHER Android update with a cool new Capture Preview feature."
Come on Dan, give your Apple customers the same courtesy please.
I’m glad he spoke up, because others might be wondering the same thing. Here’s the truth:
- iOS almost always gets new features FIRST.
- Android usually “catches up” a little later.
Here are some recent examples:
- Added Recipe Videos to Discover View (mentioned above) went live on iOS on July 21
- Capture Preview (just mentioned in last week's article) went live on iOS back on July 17
- Highest Rated Recipes Smart Folder came to iOS on May 8
- Smarter Chapter Picker with Auto-Scroll also rolled out on iOS on May 8
- Long Press launched on iOS on April 13
- PDF Scan was released for iOS on April 12
Why Don’t I Mention iOS Every Time?
Two reasons:- The Cook’n Elves never stop building! If I wrote about every release, almost every newsletter would be a new feature announcement (fun, but maybe a little much!).
- The app already tells you! Each time you launch Cook’n, if there is a new update, a “See What’s New” dialog like this pops up inside the app with details:

That said, Pickaname’s comment was a great reminder to clarify in the newsletter when features are already live on iOS...so no one feels overlooked. 😊
Bottom Line
Cook’n for iOS is almost always first in line, with Android catching up a bit later. Either way, we’re rolling out amazing new improvements on ALL platforms to make Cook’n the best it can be.So go fire up the Discover View, check out the recipe videos, and enjoy the magic the Cook’n Elves are serving up.
