An Amazing Immunity-Builder and Cancer-Fighter in One Glass!

Covid is still on the scene. My hairdresser just cancelled my appointment due to her coming down with it. So in light of its constant prevalence, here I am again with yet another recommendation on how to keep the immune system strong as well as fend off cancer.

Current and abundant research says it’s all about LEMONS. They’re an effective immunity strengthener and cancer fighter! Lemons have been found to be 10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy.

The source of this information comes from one of the largest drug manufacturers in the world, and they say that after more than 20 laboratory tests since 1970, it was found that lemon destroys the malignant cells in 12 different cancers, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreas. And what is even more exciting: lemon only destroys malignant cancer cells—it does not negatively affect healthy cells in any way.

Studies also show they have twice the vitamin C as oranges and that they’re anti-microbial. They effectively fight bacterial infections and fungi, as well as internal parasites and worms. Lemons regulate blood pressure, are an antidepressant, and even combat stress and nervous disorders.

Lemon has also been found to lower the glycemic index of any food it is added to. And the drop is very significant! To benefit from this, all you have to do is add a little squeeze of fresh lemon over your food. Almost like waving a magic wand, this will instantly lower the glycemic index of your meal.

And more studies show that drinking fresh lemon water is a powerful energy booster and chronic fatigue fighter. I have been including a whole lemon (peel, pith, seeds and all) in my morning green smoothie, and all I can say is that since I’ve started adding lemon, my energy has been amazing—through the roof! The one caveat with this habit is that you should either eat after drinking lemon water to protect your teeth (their enamel) from being etched by the acid in the lemon, or drink the water through a straw.

An excellent habit is to have a glass of lemon water first thing in the morning rather than that proverbial cup of coffee (which is highly acidic). Acidic foods and drinks shift the pH of the body toward the acid side. However, if you shift the pH back toward the alkaline side, your blood sugar will go down and you’ll be LESS insulin resistant. In fact, lemon water actually aids in repairing any damaged cell membranes.

It sounds confusing, since lemons taste acidic, right? But when they’re metabolized, they have an alkalizing effect. If fact, they are the strongest alkalizing food you can eat! And science shows the body is healthiest when in an alkaline state—disease (especially all cancers) thrive in an acidic state. So returning the body to an alkaline side goes a long way toward helping protect against all sorts of illnesses.

So back to starting your day with a drink of lemon water. Making it is easy. Just squeeze the juice from a half lemon (or a full lemon if you are a larger person) into a glass of water, swirl it around a little, and drink it up. Do this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach before you eat or drink anything else.

But as easy as making a daily glass of it is, I prefer to make at least a half gallon at a time and always having it on hand. I flavor it with other things when I want to serve it as a drink during dinner. If you like this idea as well, here are two recipes I use all the time. It’s such an easy and tasty way to protect against disease and keep your immune system strong!

Lemon & Cucumber Water AND Hit-the-SPot Lemon Water

Ingredients:

1 gallon cold water
2 to 3 fresh lemons sliced
1 cucumber sliced ((if cucumber is not organic, be sure to remove peel)

HIT-THE-SPOT LEMON WATER
4 lemons sliced
1 1/2 cups firmly packed fresh mint leaves or PINEAPPLE BASIL leaves
6 to 8 cups bottled or tap water
6 to 8 cups ice cubes
fresh mint leaves or basil sprigs

Directions:
LEMON & CUCUMBER WATER

Place all the ingredients into a pitcher and serve! For a stronger taste, let the water sit in your refrigerator for an hour prior to serving.

HIT-THE-SPOT LEMON WATER

Place lemon slices in a large pitcher. Carefully rub the 1-1/2 cups mint leaves between the palms of your hands to slightly bruise the leaves. Add to the pitcher with lemon. Pour in water. Cover and chill for 1 to 8 hours.

Strain lemon-water mixture. Discard herbs. Divide lemon slices and additional fresh mint or basil sprigs equally among 6 to 8 tall glasses or pint-sized canning jars. For each serving, add 1 cup of ice cubes; fill with the lemon water.
