The Only Air Fryer (or Baked) Salmon Recipe You'll Ever Need

Life got sweeter when I realized all the wonderful things I could crisp up in the Air Fryer--most specifically when I learned how to cook up a delicious juicy rib eye perfectly every single time. I couldn’t believe that right at home I could cook a steak as good or better than any steakhouse I’ve been to. And now I have found an incredible air fryer recipe for that is just as exciting to me as learning to make perfect steak--garlicy Dijon salmon!

If you don’t have an air fryer, this recipe is easily adaptable to make in the oven as well, so I will share those tips below but it’s cool because the air fryer really does cut the cook time in half. If you have a thinner fillet, it cooks up in less than 15 minutes in the oven--and in less than seven minutes in the air fryer!

Now, for starters you know this recipe is going to be good because it is another 5 star recipe with hundreds of reviews from Natasha’s Kitchen. Comment after comment posted after the recipe talked about how they have tried all sorts of salmon recipes and this is the winner of them all. I would second that as well. As soon as you try this salmon recipe, you’ll never go looking for another!

I think what makes this particular recipe so great is the sauce that you use to “marinade” the salmon fillet. It is made up of fresh, simple ingredients--chopped fresh parsley, fresh squeezed lemon juice, pressed garlic cloves, Dijon mustard, salt and pepper, and lemon slices. When cooking this in the air fryer, this sauce creates a beautiful caramelizing effect and crisps up the outside while leaving it perfectly flaky and tender in the middle. This sauce is so great on any seafood, like shrimp or lobster, any other kind of fish or even chicken!

Sometimes I hesitate to buy salmon because in the past it has turned out pretty blah and good fresh-caught salmon fillets can be pricey, but rest assured that this recipe is completely fool-proof and you can feel confident you will create a 5-star recipe your family, even your pickiest of eaters will love!

Just a couple things to keep in mind about salmon choices. Wild salmon is the best option for this recipe and any of these types will work: Atlantic Salmon, Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Pink Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, or King Salmon. Since salmon sizes vary quite a lot, keep an eye on your salmon at the end of your baking time, as the thinner fillets will cook faster and the thicker filets, such as a fattier farmed salmon, or a thick-cut Wild King Salmon fillet will take longer to roast.

How to Make Air Fryer Salmon:

Place your salmon fillets skin-side-down in your air fryer basket or tray, making sure there is space in between each fillet and that they are not touching. Air fry at 450 degrees (you don’t need to worry about preheating) for 5-7 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillet.

How to Roast Salmon in the Oven:

This is very similar to the air fryer instructions--place your fillets skin-side-down on a rimmed baking sheet lined with silpat or foil. Spread the marinade generously over the top and sides of the salmon and top with a lemon slice. Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes, or until it is just cooked through and flaky. Don’t overcook it. Because that would be sad :)

Do you have an air fryer at home? If so, what are your favorite meats to make in it? I think meats turn out so awesome when cooked in the air fryer--I just can’t get enough!
