Not Your Typical Pies!

Thanksgiving time is pie time, am I right? While there are many things to be grateful for this time of year, one of those things surely is pie! It’s hard not to like pie… if you don’t think you like pie, it’s just because you haven’t come across the right one yet ;). We’re pretty familiar with your basic pies- pumpkin, French silk, coconut creme, lemon meringue- but what about these more unique pies?

Butterscotch Cream Pie- I love butterscotch pudding, and I just can’t think how this would be a bad thing!

Pear Pie- I love the flavor of pears. No one usually gives them a thought when compared to peaches, but really, pears are so tasty- I bet this makes a yummy pie filling!

Pink Lemonade Pie- This has me really intrigued! It’s probably one I would wait until summer to make, but this sounds so refreshing and tasty!

Colada Cream Pie- So maybe you’re not a huge fan of your typical coconut cream pie, but how about a pina colada twist?! This would be another great pie for summer I think!

Grape pie- Sounds a little strange at first, but really, with how delicious grape jelly is, why wouldn’t you put grapes in a pie??

Salted Honey Pie- This looks heavenly. Apparently it tastes like a salted caramel pie...I’ll take 4 slices please!!

Caramel apple Pie- Because everything tastes better with caramel! Now I’m craving caramel apples…

Cookie Cake Pie- This is basically frosting on top of cake on top of a cookie on top of pie crust. If you’re more of a cake person than a pie person, this would definitely be the pie for you!

Cantaloupe Meringue Pie- Sounds super gross, but it’s actually not bad! If you can get past the fact that you are eating a cantaloupe pie, it’s just a sweet, gelatin-textured pie. A great way to use any extra cantaloupes you have lying around! The trick is to just not tell your family that it’s a cantaloupe pie ;).

Vinegar pie- Like the cantaloupe pie, if you can get past the name, I’ve actually heard great things about this pie! Just don’t think about the vinegar while you’re eating it ;).

Now for two pies that my mom always made for Thanksgiving that I just love! Orange pie, and Buttermilk pie. The orange pie is like sweet, tangy glazey cookie and it’s one of my absolute favorites! The buttermilk pie is similar but not quite so tangy- it’s a great basic pie to throw in the mix! I’ve included the recipes here for you:
