Don’t Throw Out Those Candy Wrappers!

Halloween is pretty much here, and that means we’re all going to have WAY more candy than we know what to do with. That’s not always a bad thing- there are plenty of ways to use those goodies to take your ice cream and baked goods to the next level, but what about all those candy wrappers???

I’ve never really thought much about candy wrappers because I’m a little too focused on the chocolate that is found inside ;), but you can actually do quite a bit with all those extra candy wrappers you’ll have lying around!

Check out this video of how to make a unique pouch just from a candy wrapper/bag!

These would be so fun to make with your kids or grandkids! And I think it would be fun to make a variety of sizes based on the candy you choose! And you don’t have to think small just because you have small candy wrappers to work with- with a little handiwork, you can make a large bag just by using those smaller candy wrappers!

Here’s a more extensive tutorial:

You can also repurpose any canvas bags or pouches you might have lying around by mod-podging the candy wrappers onto the bag- you could make them all the same or use a variety for a colorful and fun look! (And this bag might be a little more sturdy ;) ).

In fact, with a little mod podge, you could re-decorate all kinds of things! A boring notebook or journal could totally be brought to life with a few candy wrappers! I’m tempted to deck out my grocery list notebook ;).

A mason jar decked out in candy wrappers would be a cute piggy bank for kids, a pencil jar, a container for all your girls’ hair ties…. The possibilities are endless! And speaking of hair ties- why not let your kids have a fun craft day and make their own candy wrapper hair bows? Just add a jewel or ribbon for some extra dazzle ;).

You could also wrap headbands in spare candy wrappers for a different sweet hair accessory ;).

Another fun idea is to create a sweet wreath! This particular one is made using only Dum-Dum wrappers, but you could use any candy wrappers you have on hand! It could be fun to make one using Butterfingers, Reeses, and other yellow/orange wrappers to create a more autumn- themed wreath for the season.

Would you try any of these? If nothing else, these would definitely make a fun craft day, and would be a great way to utilize all that Halloween candy you’ll be getting!
