Need An Excuse to Party?

If you live in Utah, then you know that July 24th is not just another day in July- it’s Pioneer Day, the state holiday that celebrates our heritage. All over Utah there are children’s parades, fireworks, and various carnivals and activities as Utahans celebrate the anniversary of those first pioneers walking into the Salt Lake Valley and settling our favorite state;).

Not everyone may be able to celebrate Pioneer Day, but there are a few holidays coming up that I’m pretty sure anyone would enjoy celebrating. Here’s a list of fun holidays coming up in case you needed another excuse to party this summer:

July 28 is National Milk Chocolate Day- for all of you chocolate lovers! You could have a chocolate fondue bar or just a variety of chocolate bars- so long as chocolate is present, it will be great;).

July 30 is Cheesecake Day- you could try your hand at a homemade cheesecake, or twist things up by trying a variety of little appetizers that have the cheesecake flavor. There are so many cool ideas for cheesecake filled strawberries, cheesecake dips, ice creams/shakes, etc. Really, you can’t go wrong with cheesecake!

August 2 is National Ice Cream Sandwich Day- I don’t think you would need to do much to amp up this holiday- a basic ice cream sandwich is pretty much all you need for happiness:).

August 3 is National Watermelon Day- I don’t know that there is another fruit that represents summer more fully than a big slice of watermelon! Though anyone would enjoy a big slice of watermelon or watermelon popsicles, I imagine you could take this idea very far with a group of little girls- I can’t help but picture little watermelon-painted fingers and toes, and you could go all out in pink and green clothing and hairbows! (Ok maybe I’m getting a little too excited for my baby girl to get here haha;) ).

August 6 is National Root Beer Float Day- a tasty way to cool down in the heat of the summer! You could also refer to Mary’s article about a whole variety of floats you can make for those of you who may not be the biggest fan of root beer, but still enjoy a good float!

August 8 is Sneak Some Zucchini On to Your Neighbor's Porch Night- now that’s just plain fun! You could also make a delicious zucchini bread if your neighbors aren’t really into zucchini ;).

August 10 is S’mores Day- I wrote an article a couple weeks ago that had a few unique ideas to try with your s’mores! You could definitely make a party out of this day! Have a whole s’mores bar going with a fire pit or even candles for which guests can roast their marshmallows.

With all of these options, hopefully you can get in the ‘holiday’ spirit and find just one more excuse to party;). Do you have any fun and different holidays you like to celebrate as a family? Please share in the comments below!
