My Favorite Places to Go For Ice Cream

May is such a great month! Not only do I celebrate my birthday and Mother’s Day, but it’s also a month of anticipation! Summer is right around the corner, flowers are in bloom, trees have officially awoken from their winter slumber, and school is so close to being out for the summer! The bright warm weather (without it being too hot) is just perfect! May is my favorite.

It’s also officially time to break out my favorite dessert- ice cream. I know we can technically eat ice cream anytime we want (anyone else enjoy a bowl of ice cream during a snowstorm? Just me?), but there is something extra satisfying about enjoying a scoop of ice cream on a warm day. If you’re local to Utah County, I thought I would share a few of my favorite spots to go for ice cream. And if you’re not local, I’ll still share a few of my favorite ice cream flavors to grab from the grocery store!

Local Ice Cream

There are SO MANY ice cream shops in Utah County. I have definitely not been to them all. But, I do have a couple that stand out in my mind:

The Red Barn. Maybe I’m biased because it’s so local to me, but it’s hard to beat the Red Barn! The ice cream is smooth and creamy, and they have a ton of unique flavors! And of course, they are a farm, so there are many delicious goodies to look at in addition to the ice cream! I love grabbing a bag of salsa cheese curds and produce from their giant refrigerator. My husband goes crazy for the apple cider donuts- and of course, you can’t beat all the cherry treats! I would recommend the Centennial flavor of ice cream- vanilla ice cream with cherries, chocolate chunks and a graham cracker swirl!

Rockwell Ice Cream. Some of the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted! I also love the unique flavors they put out! Biscoff, Honeycomb, Muddy Buddy, and the G.O.A.T- goat cheese based ice cream with blackberry and lemon jam swirls and honey rosemary roasted almonds! They also offer sauces (like graham cracker sauce!) to top your ice cream with, and it truly makes it a heavenly experience!

BYU Creamery. My alma mater! Again, such a creamy ice cream, with so many great flavors to choose from! My personal favorites are Graham Canyon (chocolate covered honeycomb with a graham cracker swirl that is to die for), and Earnestly Chocolate (chocolate ice cream with chocolate covered caramel cups, and caramel and marshmallow swirls!! The stuff that dreams are made of!)

Brooker’s Founding Flavors Ice Cream. A truly unique experience. Seriously tasty ice cream with all kinds of uniquely delicious flavors, and they are all named after founding fathers! Even the workers are dressed as if they just stepped out of 1776 and it’s awesome. Here are just a couple of the flavors: Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration of Cookie Dough, Patrick Henry’s Give Me Chocolate or Give Me Death, and Nathan Hale’s One Regret….That He Has But One Flavor To Give For His Country. You could make it a history lesson and dessert all in one. And it is seriously tasty ice cream!! Definitely worth the trip!

If you’re not around Utah County, there is still plenty of deliciousness to be found! Some of my favorite flavors:

Ben and Jerry’s Milk and Cookies Ice Cream- vanilla ice cream with an Oreo cookie swirl, chocolate chip cookie chunks and chocolate chips. It’s SO GOOD. This is my guilty pleasure ;).

Blue Bunny’s Cookie Dough- The cookie dough swirl is so addicting and makes this my favorite cookie dough flavor!

Private Selection Sea Salt Caramel Truffle- Caramel swirls and chocolate caramel cups in vanilla ice cream and I love it!

These are my personal favorites, but there are so many great options out there! What’s your favorite ice cream place to visit, or your favorite flavor to grab from the store? I’d love to hear!
