My Favorite Kitchen Gadget of Summer!

I once read in a magazine that “August is the best month to eat.” I would have to agree! August is the month when there is a plethora of fresh produce all around us. There are Farmer’s Markets, more fresh produce in the stores, and much to harvest from home gardens. I love finding new ways to use and eat it all!

One way that I am using more produce is by utilizing my new favorite kitchen gadget of summer: The Veggetti Pro. This is yet another kitchen gadget that I got for a steal ($10!) on Black Friday last year.

The Veggetti Pro is an awesome multi-purpose vegetable cutter. It comes with three different stainless steel blades. One blade cuts thin spirals, one cuts thick spirals, and one is a ribbon blade that cuts potato chips, apples, etc. The Veggetti Pro is easy to clean, dishwasher safe, and simple to break down for storage. It has a non-slip suction cup base that makes it stay in place when you are cranking vegetables through the machine. It also comes with a recipe guide.

My favorite thing to use my Veggetti Pro for is zoodles! Zoodles are “noodles” made out of fresh zucchini. Zoodles are a great way to get more vegetables into your diet while eating less carbs. Just the other night, we made spaghetti and meatballs at our house. In addition to the regular spaghetti noodles, I cut a fresh batch of zoodles to go with it. I was happy to eat the zoodles, while my kids ate the regular noodles. I even got my kids to try the zoodles. They ate quite a few and liked them, (although they may not admit it!).

I have also used my Veggetti Pro to cut spiralized cucumbers and carrots. Spiralized veggies make beautiful and delicious salads. Not to mention that the long spirals are a fun way for kids to try veggies. The Veggetti Pro can also make coleslaw, curly fries, potato chips, onion rings and apple slices. I especially like to make chips and fries out of sweet potatoes, which are a much healthier alternative to store bought chips.

There are many vegetable cutters/spiralizers on the market. What are you favorites? What are your other favorite kitchen gadgets of summer? I hope your August is also filled with fresh, healthy eating!
