Sweet Reveals

One of the most exciting times during pregnancy is finding out the gender:). I can start referring to the baby as him or her, and then of course, my husband and I can start narrowing down a name (which takes a few months, let me tell ya!!).

One of the other fun aspects of finding out the gender is revealing it to your loved ones! And since we are all about the kitchen over here, I thought it would be fun to look at some different ways to do gender reveals that use food. If nothing else, they are darling and their concepts could be used for a variety of holidays, weddings, baby/bridal showers, etc. (Think red and green for Christmas or red and blue for the 4th of July!).

*An easy but cute idea is to take a Hershey's chocolate bar and color in the he or she in the middle (using blue or pink depending on what you're having;) ). Simple, but cute!

*Replace the papers inside fortune cookies (or get them special-ordered) with little slips of paper to make your announcement! (This could be fun for any announcement- we're expecting, we bought a house, we're engaged, we got a promotion, we're going to be grandparents, etc).

*Using Oreos (or any other cookie sandwich), take off one half of the cookie and cover the cream in pink or blue sprinkles. Replace the cookie half, and dip in chocolate. This one is just plain tasty if nothing else;). You could do this with any homemade cookie as well- just layer a couple cookies, cut out the middle, and place one final cookie on top- don't forget the frosting!

*Take a picture of the mommy and daddy-to be with a pink and blue gumball- the biggest bubble reveals the gender!

*Fill a cake with colored candies. This one just looks like fun to cut into, and if you are into cake this is definitely a fun option!

*If you don't love the idea of candy in your cake, then simply color the batter and make sure you do a good job frosting the outside;)

*If a frosting center is more of your thing, than just fill individual cupcakes with pink or blue colored frosting for a tasty surprise in the middle!

*Put in a special request to fill your doughnuts with blue or pink icing- who doesn't love doughnuts? ;)

*Another easy idea if you want to keep it simple is simply serving a blue or pink treat- blue cotton candy, a pink colored ice cream, blue raspberry Kool-aid, etc.

So many fun ideas! Like I said, you could do this with any special occasion where you want to add a pop of color! Any ideas you'd like to add to the list? Share in the comments below!

(And for any of you wondering…. We are having another beautiful girl!! We are so excited! The ultrasound shows that she already has some very pinchable cheeks;). I can't wait to hold her!! :D).
