Some Great Ideas- and a Winner!

Thank you so much for your responses last week. I loved hearing all your different ideas! I thought I'd share a few in case any of you did not get a chance to read the comments; there were a lot of creative ideas!

Frieda says that she often goes to restaurants and tries something she loves. She researches until she finds a tasty copycat recipe online and has created a whole cookbook for these recipes. Each chapter is a different restaurant. I feel like I am always looking at copycat recipes, so this is definitely a cookbook I should create!

Terri B likes to keep things simple and has created one cookbook with several chapters in it that include all her recipes. Sometimes simple is the way to go!

AuntMom shared that she has a "Make Your Own" Cookbook. It's filled with recipes to help her create things from scratch, such as a dry onion soup mix or Taco Seasoning. Another fabulous idea!

Terrellgram commented that she creates recipes for "gardening, canning, soap making, crafts, sewing, etc. If I want to be able to locate it quick, Cook'n is where I put it". I love this! Who says Cook'n can only be used for food recipes? Makes me feel like I have barely scratched the surface of everything I can do with Cook'n;).

Jennifer says she has a cookbook for "kiddy favorites". She even has a chapter for holidays, with things like mummy dogs for Halloween and Valentine's Day cookies. Another great way to organize recipes to find them easily! She also shared a tip: "I also love to use the categories option! It's a great way of keeping recipes in the cookbook I want but also linking them to other ideas, like Mommy meals, secret recipes (I've been given 2, one's a cake recipe the other is a dip recipe), or special meals that I've made. For example, I made a very special Valentine's Day dinner that included bread, soup, salad, and a main shrimp dish. I tagged all of these in a category called Valentine's Day 2009 and kept the recipes in the chapters of the cookbook I wanted". This is one feature of Cook'n I have not used very often- but now I'm pretty sure I have to;).

Nancy shared this beautiful idea: "I created a cookbook called "Blazis Family and Friends." It's made up of recipes from my mother who passed away years ago and other family as well as from friends. I also include recipes that I get from other sources and make them my own by tweaking them. I keep updating the recipes and the directions as the times change and ways of cooking change. I've made several copies to give away; my niece even asked me to make her a cookbook as a housewarming present!"

What a great family tradition! More than one person mentioned that they have created some kind of family recipe cookbook- I love how food can bring people together;). What a great way to use Cook'n!

I think my favorite thing about writing this article was reading all the comments and emails and being able to appreciate the different ideas and personalities! There is no right or wrong way to use the cookbook feature, and it was so fun to see the many unique ideas from everyone! I definitely got some new ideas for cookbooks! Thank you all for sharing.

And now the moment you've all been waiting for….. drumroll please………. our winner is…………….. Jennifer!
