Buttermilk Pie - Easiest Recipe Ever!

By Sydney Hill

So here's the thing, I have two different buttermilk pie recipes. So rather than trying to decide which one to give you, why don't I just do both? Double Whammy! One uses more flour, one uses more vanilla, etc. There pretty similar but different enough I thought I'd put both. A nice twist would be to add almond or coconut instead of vanilla. I bet rum or maple would be awesome, too!

Buttermilk Pie #1

Ingredients:
3 tablespoons butter
1 1/4 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (9") pie shell pie, uncooked

Directions:
Mix ingredients and pour in shell. Bake 50- 60 minutes at 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Cool and serve.

Buttermilk Pie #2

Ingredients:
7 eggs, mixed
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup flour
1 cup buttermilk
2/3 cup melted butter
2 (9") pie shells, unbaked

Directions:
Mix first three ingredients, then add the rest. Mix all ingredients well. Pour into two unbaked pie shells. Bake 45-60 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit. If a puddle of butter forms in the middle, tip pie and pour off and return to oven until center is set. Serves two pies.
