Reviews

"Bestselling author Bob Warden, TV show host, and an expert on pressure cooking, now delivers an exciting and entertaining cookbook on favorite slow cooker recipes. He has written several cookbooks, and I have his amazing recipes on pressure cooking. This author does not disappoint in any cookbooks I have purchased from his variety of cookbook titles. This new cookbook on slow cooker recipes offers a huge selection of recipes for dinners, and all occasions. There is a difference in pressure cooking verses slow cookers. The time difference is one major factor, as slow cookers require only preparation, and can cook all day while we are working, which I've done a great deal in the past. Pressure cooking is fine, but if you are pressed for time, slow cooking is the way to go. The time difference is the greatest advantage of all. For slow cooking, I have 3 crock-pots of different sizes, but what I needed was new inviting recipes. The author provides several recipes, and believes the key to successful slow cooking is using fresh ingredients. I must agree, because there is a remarkable difference in flavor. These fresh ingredients are to replace the old method of using canned soups and packaged foods, which I've done in the past. The recipe for pot roast is delicious, and there are over 125 recipes to choose from, with colorful photos. By using fresh ingredients, the flavor is locked in, and many spices added to the specific recipes also add more flavor. The pasta recipes are great for slow cooking, because the sauce thickens without burning, and the longer it slow cooks, the more flavorful it becomes. This is the best cookbook I have found so far for slow cooking, and will be using it a great deal. A wonderful advantage for all those who have limited time on their hands, but want to come home after work to a dinner already made. An update: We tried the TATER BREAKFAST CASSEROLE, Prep time is 20 minutes, and cook time is 10 hours, absolutely delicious. We also tried PAELLA, prep time 25 minutes, cook time is 10 hours. Very tasty with chicken, ham, and shrimp. Each recipe has a Shopping List, and Helpful hints to make it better. I will provide more updates as we try new recipes. I love the recipes, and will share them with family, and friends. A great gift idea for any cook. Highly recommended!" -Author/Reviewer Geri Ahearn

"I have both books by him for the pressure cooker and they are some of the best books you can buy for recipes. I use them all the time. When I saw he was coming out with a slow cooker book, I was sure I had to have this one too. The concept behind the slow cooker recipes is that sometimes we need recipes that need all day to cook while we are at work and we don't necessary have time to put a pressure cooker recipe together at the end of the day. Okay..that works for me. Outstanding follow up to his pressure cooker recipes. Full color picture and normal ingredients that eliminate the can of cream of and chunk of meat. He utilizes many spices in his book and brings a fresh more healthy approach to crock pot cooking. Chicken Carbonara pasta, pot roast and lasagna look absolutely fantastic. This book will sit on top shelf with his other two as a valuable easy way to get meals on the table for my family." --B. L. Dvorachek

"This is my third Bob Warden cookbook and I only saw maybe one duplicate recipe from the others. There is so many helpful hints as well as many easy to follow recipes using items easy to find and stock to use for so many different recipes. I have purchased all of his cookbooks "used" and each one is practically "new" at a fraction of the cost. This is a great book to use for Insta Pot as most of them now have the slow cooker option on them." -- Karen Petrie
