Whole Wheat Brownies

1 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon mexican vanilla extract
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
walnuts, optional


Beat together all of the above and then stir in flour. Pour batter into greased and floured 13 x 9-inch pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and/or walnuts. Bake at 325°F for 25-30 minutes. Cool completely.
