1 Rinse the tomatoes and pat dry. With a small knife, cut around the stem end of each tomato and remove it. Cut the tomatoes in half lengthwise.
2 In a large skillet, heat the oil with the garlic and basil over medium heat. Add the tomato halves cut-side down. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook until the tomatoes are browned and tender, about 10 minutes. Serve hot or at room temperature.
