Peeling Tomatoes

Serves: 0

To peel tomatoes using a microwave oven: Place 1 1/2 cups water in a 4-cup microwavable measuring cup or bowl. Microwave at 100% power (700 watts) 3 to 4 minutes until boiling. Immerse a ripe tomato in the boiling water for 30 to 40 seconds remove with a slotted spoon and dip in a bowl of ice water. Slip or peel off skin.

To peel tomatoes using the top of the stove: Pour boiling water over tomatoes in a bowl. Let stand for a few minutes before removing tomatoes with a slotted spoon.

NOTE: To peel peaches, both of the above methods work with peaches, too.
