Old-Fashioned Coleslaw

1 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons celery seeds
1 teaspoon mustard prepared
Salt to taste
6 cups cabbage shredded
1 cup carrot grated
1 onion small, chopped (optional)
1/4 cup green bell pepper chopped


Place mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, celery seeds, mustard, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk until blended. Stir in cabbage, carrots, onion, and green pepper until all ingredients are well coated. Cover and chill until ready to serve.

If desired, garnish with green pepper rings.
