Homemade Caramel Apple Pop Tarts


Serves: 6

These little babies have tons of flaky crust surrounding the apple filling. If that wasn’t enough, they are then drizzled with a buttery rich caramel sauce. Heaven on a plate. A little vanilla ice cream wouldn’t be out of place.

Ingredients:

1 pie crust
1/2 cup caramel sauce
1 cup diced apple
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
1 egg + 1 tablespoon milk (for wash)

Directions:

1, Mix together the apples, sugars and lemon juice.

2. Roll out pie dough thin and cut into rectangles. Top 1/2 of the rectangles with a few spoonfuls of the apple walnut mixture leaving a border. Beat together the egg and milk. Brush the egg wash around the border of the rectangles that have apples on them. Take the remaining dough rectangles place over the filled rectangles. Press down the edges with a fork to seal. Place pop tarts on a silicone baking mat or parchment lined baking sheet. Refrigerate the pop tarts for 15-30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350.

3. Brush the tops of the pop tarts with the egg wash. Make a few small cuts on the top. Place in preheated oven for 22-25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove
