When you say, "On your patio at home for your family" does that include as a door stop also?

I inherited my dutch oven from my mother. Use it all the time!

I also use it on the patio and for family parties

Enjoyed Video

i will b using my d.o when camping i belong to a 4 wheel drive club and all the members r very excited to be having decent meals from now on. thank u soooooo much

Actually we use dutch ovens in all 4 situations.

What a wonderful video. Can't wait to go camping

I use a dutch oven that is at least 65 years old . I use it for cornbread, pancakes, scrambled eggs, round bread, chili, goulash, casseroles, cobblers, etc. etc. I have lots of very old cast iron, and just love it!! Pat Frizzell

I use the Dutch for most of my cooking

I was happy to see this video on DO's

I am a deer hunter and really enjoy cooking with my dutch ovens in deer camp

I really use it for home, camping, and for group. Love to cook in my DOs

I like cooking roasts and scones

i use it for more than camping but for at home I seem to prefer the porcelien lined cast iron..prettier and messes clean up easy and its the same great cooking...just don't need to watch your patina like on straight cast iron..either way u can't beat cast iron except for its weight ( I have a lefting restriction so kids usually do the transfering of the roasters and heavier items..but if they want to eat they will help..lol

Honestly I use Dutch ovens all the time in my home oven, in the back yard, camping, and i cater using dutch ovens including the 2002 winter olympics games. i've written 2 D.O> cook books and am starting my third. Dave

We LOVE our Dutch Ovens and use them for family gatherings as well as party's, etc. Honestly, we believe everything tastes better cooked in a Dutch Oven. And cooking the bread recipe from the New York Times video was absolutely wonderful!!! You all need to try it. Honestly a little child can mix it up and then you can handle the hot oven. They will feel so successful when they eat the bread they made! :-)

after watching the video, I would like to try using a Dutch oven.

Since I am a widow and live alone, I find it handy to make a double recipe in my Dutch Oven - e.g. Chili, soups, etc. and then freeze a batch of individual servings. That way, I always have lots of extra quick meals ready to go! My Dutch Oven and my Microwave minimize the time needed for meal preparation. I am an artist and have no family within 1000 miles so spend a minimal amount of time cooking!

really enjoyed the video and the recipes and hope to see more. David Stogsdill

I had to give both of my cast iron dutch ovens away. I have severe arthritis in my hands and arms and could no longer lift them.

You should have allowed us to choose the first 4 answers and NOT be stuck with only one. If you are a true Dutch Oven cook, you'll use it in MANY ways! ALL with great success.

I LOVE Dutch Oven cooking & baking!

I'm afraid I don't own a cast iron dutch oven, but I do own several cast iron fry pans and they're great. I'm not a camper at all, as a matter of fact, roughing it is staying at a hotel that doesn't have room service! I would be interested in knowing the advantages of using a cast iron dutch oven indoors, though. Anyone have any thoughts?

after looking at the video, we may use it camping this year

I teach DO Cooking and I tell them to use their ovens anywhere and all the time.

I use my dutch oven about 8 times a year.

you should have offered an "all of the above" option for the first four choices, because when you are a real Dutch Oven Enthusiast, you take every opportunity to"Go Dutch"! It is so fun and DELICIOUS!

Your poll should be structured differently. I have used dutch ovens when camping with groups as well as the usual at home use.

love um

Could directions also be given for the same dish in the regular oven?

Would love to have an entire series of recipes for cooking when camping and dutch oven cooking

looking forward to dutch oven cookbook. Skinner rocks!

I have seven lodge DO's and use them all the time. I'm always looking for more recipes

We also use it on top of the stove. It makes a great pot roast.

to answer the person that said they would use it more if the knew the benefits. TASTE. Absolutly wonderful. I use it in my oven to do a rump roast. I can't get them to come out in just a regular oven with a bag etc. I put this roast in my dutch oven, in the oven and it was the most wonderful roast. I use it a lot in the summer outside as I do not use my oven in the summer. I live in a mobile home. Too Hot. Makes wonderful rolls, cakes, veg., potatoes, ribs, roasts, stews, just about anything you can cook in your oven

Wish I could have answered more than one I do all 4. Love to Dutch Oven. I live in Logan and am lucky to have Camp Chef as a neighbor. They do a lot of classes at the Maceys Little Theater.

This was a hard one. I also use mine on top of the stove for stews, soups and sauces, for big groups and sometimes when out camping.

Maybe if I knew the benefits of using one, I would use it more often . . .
