Budget Smudget! It seems almost impossible these days to stick to a grocery budget! I make my list, check it twice, and never do I ever get ONLY the items on my list! Does anybody? Oh, well, all the more merry in the kitchen! Thanks!

Dawn

When grocery shopping, I do not budget as such. I do make a list of what I need and do my best to stick to that.

The kids seem to be eating more. It is even more expensive when they are out of school and go to the store with us! Know what to do - just need to do it.

Love your site.

Shopping the stores sales and using coupons does indeed help me actually save money. I am careful only to use the coupons for things I would buy anyway, and if the store brand is cheaper than the brand for which I have the coupon then I go with the store brand. I have not always been good with staying with my grocery store budget, but I am getting better with it all the time.

I've tried to use a budget but living on a farm & only getting paid 3 or 4 times a year makes it hard to figure, and hard to figure where to start. I just don't know how to do it. I could definitely use some advice!

Shopping sales and using coupons for items you regularyly use is a good way to save money. But, buying something you won't use is a waste of even "sale" money! Take a list with you!

I am a sale shopper, but never buy things I don't need. I do, however, use a good sale to try something I had been avoiding because of its price.

We buy what we want to eat. We are not extravagant, but on the other hand don't buy in bulk or buy inferior brands. We like home cooking which saves money, but don't go to extremes like grinding our own wheat, etc.

Our food budget goes out the window when my husband does the grocery shopping, particuarly if he shops on his way home from work. We then live in "junk food heaven" for a couple of weeks. Not everyone can shop from a list (there was a list?) making them a poor choice for the shopping trips.
