When the Soup is Too Spicy

Dear Dan and Desi,

There is a way to salvage or recycle almost everything.  You could add lots of potatoes and tomatoes and other things to the pot but you would need a washtub to hold it all and an army to eat it. But, I don't recommend it.

The first thing to do is drain all the broth off the soup and reserve.  Then, add tomato juice to the vegetables, reheat and then taste.  If needed, add some of the reserved broth back a little at a time.  Save the remaining broth to use in other dishes (spice up a pot roast or chicken). .

Cooking is both a mystery and an adventure.  It is not for the faint hearted.  All mistakes are really "discoveries".

Rose

Rose,

You're Brilliant!! Thanks for sharing this additional tip.  I'm going to use it the next time I'm a little over-adventurous with the spices in my soups!
