Brownie Pudding

Serves 8

Ingredients:

SAUCE:
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1-1/2 cups boiling water

CAKE:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
1/3 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
whipped cream or vanilla ice cream

In a saucepan, combine sauce ingredients and keep warm. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder and salt. In a small bowl, combine egg, milk, butter and vanilla add to dry ingredients and stir until moistened. Fold in chocolate chips. Pour into a greased 1-1/2-qt. baking dish. Pour warm sauce over batter. Do not stir. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until cake is firm and floats in sauce. Let rest 10 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
