Give-Aways

I have spent the last 2 hours reading your newsletter and wonderful recipes. I have already printed a whole bunch I want to try. I love them because they are using ingredients one has on hand. I love that and just wanted you to know how much we appreciate all your hard work in putting together this newsletter. Thank you very much.

White Rice

Serves: 4

2 cups rice
Water
1/4 teaspoon salt approx

Place rice in pot and add salt (approx means to taste). Add water (a basic recipe is 2 cups water to 1 cup rice) I use the "thumb" method. Point you thumb down into the pot. When the tip touches the rice and the water is at the middle of the knuckle, it's perfect! I use it because my measuring cups are always 'elsewhere' and I always have the thumb! After a couple of tries, you always use the same pot for rice and the same thumb, you figure out exactly how much water to put to make perfect rice your way! I even use this method in my rice cooker pot.
