Give-Aways

I have spent the last 2 hours reading your newsletter and wonderful recipes. I have already printed a whole bunch I want to try. I love them because they are using ingredients one has on hand. I love that and just wanted you to know how much we appreciate all your hard work in putting together this newsletter. Thank you very much.

Grilled Texas Turkey Burgers

Serves: 4

  Download this recipe.

1 pound ground turkeys
1/3 cup barbecue sauce
1 (4-ounce) can chopped green chilies, drained
4 slices (1 ounce each) Monterey Jack-Colby cheese with jalapeno peppers
4 hamburger buns, split

Brush grill rack with vegetable oil. Heat coals or gas grill for direct heat. Mix turkey, barbecue sauce and chilies. Shape mixture into 4 patties, each about 3/4 inch thick.

Cover and grill patties 4 to 6 inches from medium heat 14 to 16 minutes, turning once, until no longer pink in center. About 1 minute before burgers are done, top each with cheese slice. Grill until cheese is melted. Serve on buns.

Betty's Tip
Making toasty hamburger or hot dog buns on the grill is easy. Leave the buns plain or spread with a little bit of margarine or butter, and place them cut sides down for the last 4 minutes of grilling or until toasted.
