Give-Aways

I have spent the last 2 hours reading your newsletter and wonderful recipes. I have already printed a whole bunch I want to try. I love them because they are using ingredients one has on hand. I love that and just wanted you to know how much we appreciate all your hard work in putting together this newsletter. Thank you very much.

  Download this recipe.
1 (14-ounce) package caramels, unwrapped
2/3 cup evaporated milk, divided
1 (18 1/2-ounce) box German chocolate cake mix
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Heat caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in a heavy saucepan, stirring until melted and smooth; set aside. Combine cake mix, butter, remaining evaporated milk and nuts; mix until just moistened. Press half of cake mixture into the bottom of a 13" x 9" baking pan that has been sprayed with non-stick vegetable spray; bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Sprinkle with chocolate chips; spread caramel mixture over the top. Flatten pieces of remaining dough with your hands and place over the caramel layer; bake for 15 to 18 minutes. Cool slightly; refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm caramel layer. Cut into bars to serve.
