Corny Placemats

By Bethany Booth

Let the kids roll a little color onto your Thanksgiving table setting this year with corn-painted place mats. Young and old will love creating the interesting patterns and holiday guests will admire the personal touch.

Materials:
Ear of corn
Plastic corncob holders
Fabric paints
Paper plates
Cloth place mats

Directions:

Break an uncooked ear of corn into 2 ½ inch lengths. Firmly attach plastic corncob holders to the ends.

Pour a few shades of fabric paint onto paper plates.

Roll the corn in paint and then across the cloth place mat. Repeat, overlapping patterns and colors.

Heat-set the painted place mats according to the fabric paint directions.
