Give-Aways

I have spent the last 2 hours reading your newsletter and wonderful recipes. I have already printed a whole bunch I want to try. I love them because they are using ingredients one has on hand. I love that and just wanted you to know how much we appreciate all your hard work in putting together this newsletter. Thank you very much.

Thanksgiving is for Children Too!
by Patty Liston

With grandchildren expected this holiday season, we have been looking for some fun ways to engage them in things that will make some sweet memories. These ideas don’t require a lot of time or effort on your part, but they will keep little hands busy and make the children feel a part of the activities.

Place-Mats
  1. If you don’t already have an Art Box for the children/grandchildren go to the store and get crayons, Thanksgiving stickers, glue sticks, 8 ˝ x 11 inch cardstock sheets in orange, brown, red, etc. (one each for each child) and a roll of clear adhesive shelf liner paper.
  2. Cut clear adhesive paper into 9 ˝ x 13 inch pieces. DO NOT REMOVE ADHESIVE BACK.
  3. Before the children arrive, arrange these materials on a table.
  4. When the children arrive, send them outside to collect some leaves.
  5. Have children arrange the leaves then glue them on the card stock. Let them decorate any empty spaces with stickers and coloring.
  6. Have an adult or older child peel the lining from the clear adhesive paper. Turn the decorated card stock upside down on the adhesive side. Fold edges over.
  7. The children now have their own placemat which they have decorated and can take home after dinner.

Napkin Rings
  1. Empty toilet paper rolls cut into 2” wide rings.
  2. Crayons, glitter glue, Thanksgiving stickers
  3. Have children decorate their own Napkin Ring
  4. Teach them to roll the napkin and place it inside their Ring.

Pumpkin Place Cards
  1. Get a small (fit in the palm of your hand size) pumpkin for each child.
  2. Set out colorful felt tip markers
  3. Have child write their name on the pumpkin and place it where they will be sitting.
