Volume II
May 27, 2004

May Day, May Day

No, it's not a call for help! It's a call for 'random acts of kindness!" Traditionally, the first of May brought flower-filled baskets to doorsteps in celebration of spring. Bring this charming tradition to life this year by leaving sweetness on the door of your neighbors, friends, or even residents in a nursing home.

Fashion paper cones and decorate with glitter, glue, and any other trims you may have. Be sure to glue on a handle for hanging on a door. Then fill your baskets with fresh flowers, a packet of seeds, home-baked goodies, or a thoughtful note. Sneak up to the doorstep early in the morning, hang the basket on the handle, and jump into the bushes. You'll get the adrenaline pumping for sure, but mostly you'll bring much sunshine to many and create memories that your children will talk about into adulthood.
