Give-Aways

I have been wanting to join for months now. This is the birthday gift I requested from my husband. I can't wait to select my software title that comes with joining and am hoping to get more organizing tips from the weekly letters.

Recession Proof Energy - Water!
by Alice Osborne and Patty Osborne

Did you know that there are many health experts who agree that drinking water can give you just the energy boost you may need during your day? Imagine! Something so simple and it’s free! Here are some good ideas on how to get more water into your day.

  • Make it a Morning Ritual. As we age, dehydration becomes an issue—especially first thing in the morning. Put a large glass of water on your night stand in the evening. When you wake up, drink it. Your body will begin to revive itself immediately after a long night without liquid.

  • Add Some Lemon. Or lime, or orange, or pineapple. Many of us (especially children) complain that water is “boring”. But by adding a little squeeze of fruit, it’s amazing what “boring” water turns into! We’ve been to parties where the hostess has filled her water pitcher with mint or handfuls of fruit. Not only is it pretty, but it is tasty as well.

  • Keep it In the Clear. How can you tell if you are dehydrated? When your urine is clear, you are properly hydrated. When your urine is a dark yellow, you are definitely dehydrated.

  • Think of How Pretty You'll Look. Water is wonderful for the skin and helps prevent dry, flaky skin —which is not so pretty. Also, we can’t see our organs, but they all need hydration. Remember, we are over 70% water. Every time you drink a glass of water, think of your liver, pancreas, stomach, and bloodstream clapping and yelling “BRAVO”!

  • Do It Like It's Hot. If you're in the mood for a hot drink, drink heated water. Sometimes we just want the psychological pleasure that comes with having a hot mug cupped in our hands than the actual drink itself. Plus, coffee and tea contain caffeine, which is a diuretic and elevates the rate of water being expelled from your body via urination.

  • Drink When You Have a Snack Attack. Sometimes our hunger is thirst masquerading as fake hunger. Drinking a cup or two of water will make you feel "full." This is one “food” that won’t stick to your thighs.

  • Take Baby Steps. Don't expect to go from zero glasses of water to the full 8 glasses overnight. Start with one glass of water in the morning and one glass of water at night, and build your way up from there.

  • Cheap cheap. Remember that water is free at restaurants. Are we saving you money, or what?

  • Always have a full glass of water near you when you are working. It will give you something to mindlessly sip on when you are brainstorming or need something to do with your hands. We keep a beautiful ceramic pitcher full on our desks and take turns filling it when it’s empty.
