Give-Aways

I have spent the last 2 hours reading your newsletter and wonderful recipes. I have already printed a whole bunch I want to try. I love them because they are using ingredients one has on hand. I love that and just wanted you to know how much we appreciate all your hard work in putting together this newsletter. Thank you very much.

SMART Ideas!
Easy Cleanup

by Alice Osborne

Tape a plastic grocery bag to the edge of the counter where you are preparing your food; deposit all scraps, trash in this bag. When finished, just remove and toss entire bag into trash can. This saves LOTS of steps during food preparations.

Keep a box of disposable gloves in your kitchen: Use them for shaping cookie dough into balls, mixing meatloaf, and prepping chicken. If you’re needed while prepping, just peel off the gloves, toss in trash, and when you return, put on a clean pair and away you go again.

To add several eggs to a batter “one at a time, mixing each egg in thoroughly before adding the next,” we break all the eggs into a measuring cup that has a spout. When we turn on the mixer, we can slowly pour in one egg at a time. Very slick operation.

We keep an inexpensive (dollar store variety) rubber spatula in our clean-up center. It’s great for scraping out pots, pans, and dishes and also for getting into the corners of jars and the plastic refrigerator keepers. You don’t need to worry about scratching your kitchenware, and food doesn’t stick to the spatula the way it does to a sponge or plastic pot scrubber.

When time to clean the inside of your microwave, place a pyrex measuring cup of water in it and cook on high for 2-3 minutes. This creates condensation on all inside surfaces. Let it be for a few minutes, then wipe down with a zorbeez cloth or paper towels. Very easy way to get all the baked-on spatters off quickly and thoroughly.
