_ pound beef sirloin steaks or top round
___ teaspoon garlic powder
_ cup refried beans
___ cup sharp cheddar cheese grated
_ tablespoons onions minced
_ tablespoon taco sauce
_ slices italian breads about 1/2 -inch thick
_ tablespoons butter real, softened
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
_ avocado thinly sliced
_ cup lettuce shredded iceberg
_ tomatoes peeled and diced

Have the butcher slice the meat or do it yourself by placing meat in freezer until firm but not frozen. Using sharp knife, trim and slice into 1/8 -inch thick strips. Lightly sprinkle with garlic powder; let set at room temperature. Heat beans in small saucepan; mix in cheese, onion, and 1 tablespoon taco sauce. Butter bread slices and place on baking sheet. Spread each with refried bean mixture and lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper. Layer meat slices over beans. Broil 4 inches from heat for 5 minutes, watching carefully. Remove from oven and layer with slices of avocado, lettuce, and tomatoes. Pass taco sauce separately.
