How to Figure Out How Much Meat to Buy Per Person

If your going to do a BBQ cookout, or a party of any type with a crowd of hungry people, then follow these general rules of thumb.

Ingredients:

Directions:

1. Multiply the number of guests you wish to serve by 0.2 if the meat is going to be an appetizer.

2. Multiply the number of guests by 0.5 to 0.33 if the meat will be a part of the main course but there also will be other filling components.

3. If you are going to mix the meat into another dish with such as a curry or chili, multiply the number of guests by 0.25 to 0.33.

4. If you intend to serve the meat as the center of the meal with few -- if any -- accompaniments, multiply the number of guests you wish to serve by 0.75.

The resulting number in these calculations will provide you with the number of pounds of meat you should purchase to feed your guests as a rule of thumb, of course.
