Split Pea Soup - A Double Batch for a Casual Winter Party

Serves: 12

This thick and delicious homemade soup is perfect for a cold winters night!
Try serving it with a Caesar salad and warm Italian bread.

Ingredients:

2 1 pound bags green split peas
3 cups onions chopped
3 cups carrots diced
1.5 pound ham cubed
12 cups chicken broth
2 packets Sazon Goya without Annatto
2 teaspoons minced garlic

Directions:

Using a stainer, thoroughly rinse the split peas.
Put the splt peas in a large stock pot.
Add the diced onions, diced carrots, cubed ham, chicken broth and Sazon seasoning packet and minced garlic.
Bring to a boil then turn down to a simmer.
Simmer for 3+ hours.
